Cottage By The Sea

Cottage By The Sea – Michael Cannon © 2015

We’re always dreaming, Hayley you and me.
Where we will everlasting be.
We’ll get away, we really will some day.
Dreams of our cottage by the sea.

Sit yourself down, cup your hands and keep the cold at bay.
We will sing and laugh about our melancholy ways.
Wrapped in our blankets in the dark of our cottage by the sea.
Hayley, you and me.

Windswept hills, angled reaching cypress.
Roaring fire, mist on shuttered panes.
Wet jackets dripping, puddles on the floor.
Dreams of our cottage by the sea.

Two recluses, flee the bustle of London town.
We will never wish to change our melancholy ways,
playing riddles, guesses in the dark of our cottage by the sea.
Hayley, you and me. It’s where we want to be.

Dog curled up, snuggled by the hearth,
cat gazing at the world outside.
Together times, Hayley you and me,
immersed in our tranquility.

We write our names, scratched in frost patterns on a winter pane.
We will write songs about our melancholy ways,
two lovers huddled in the warm of our cottage by the sea.
Hayley, you and me. It’s our tranquility.

A word; simplicity — Hayley, you and me.
